Open Water Swimming Practice Session

When: 2 October 2016 (Sunday), 6:30 AM – 9 AM

Where: Sai Holiday Resorts, Urawade, Lavasa Road, Near Pune.

Cost: A non-refundable cost of Rs 700 per person.

This open water swimming opportunity is like a breath of fresh air, hard to come by. And what if that opportunity come with guidance, lifeguards and safety equipment in tow?

Athletic Initiatives has organized this much needed session at the Tritheos Triathlon venue lake. If you are participating, you must make it to this session. Apart from the opportunity to swim, we will also have experienced athletes to guide with open water swimming tips and techniques. If you are not participating, hey, why not experience what open water swimming feels like? Maybe you’ll be tempted to sign up? Limited slots open. Preference will be given to folks who have registered for Tritheos.

Who will guide: Dr. Nikhil Latey is currently the Head of Sports Science and Rehabilitation at Olympic Gold Quest. He has been a national level swimmer before he moved to training and rehab. He also has a lot of open water swimming and ocean swimming experience. Dr. Nikhil did his Masters in Sports and Exercise Science from the prestigious Roehampton University in London. He is one of India’s top Sports Scientists and has been a trainer of Olympic Champions like Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Deepika Kumari and Gangan Narang.

Who should come: Knowing swimming is a basic requirement for participation. The primary audience is triathletes who have registered for Tritheos, those who have never swum in open waters before and those who want to re-acquaint themselves with open water swimming skills. Preference will be given to folks who have registered for Tritheos.

What does it include: Expertise, service of life guards and safety equipment during the practice session, changing facilities before & after the swim, tea and snacks.
